After having spent a decent amount of time with the expansion my overall impression is a very positive one. The content added is enjoyable and challenging, some changes and additions may be a bit unbalanced at this point (though certainly not insurmountably hard) but the developers have already responded to feedback and will be making changes as neccesary.
It is important to remember that every iteration of Isaac has had balance changes, the Lost used to be much harder, Hard mode used to not drop items EVER. Head of Krampus was broken as all hell and the D6 used to be a 3 room charge item.
The biggest thing to take away from AB+ however is the things we haven’t seen yet, not only does it add modding support, but the game will be updated every month with the best modded items users have come up with, including some items the developers themselves have created. That means that not only do you get this excellent expansion, you also get access to a possibly infinite amount of new content over time.
